Participation in OD Free Marin’s overdose prevention collaborative is open to all individuals and organizations in Marin County that support our mission to reduce drug overdoses and promote health equity, utilizing a collective impact approach. The collaborative is comprised of a diverse, inclusive, network of partners, representing multiple sectors, who work together to address the overdose epidemic.

General Community Member
Invited to public events through email, invited to respond to general calls for action (offered optional training and volunteer opportunities), stays updated on overdose prevention efforts by subscribing to the free bi-monthly ODFM e-newsletter, utilizes the OD Free Marin website with access to our on-line resources, follows and supports OD Free Marin on social media. No formal commitment. No explicit involvement with Action Teams, Leadership Team, or the Advisory Committee.
Active Collaborative Member
Explicitly intent on participating regularly in the Collaborative by being part of an OD Free Marin Action Team, Leadership Team, and/or by serving on the Advisory Committee. Active Collaborative Members are (or will become) trained in the use of Naloxone and serve as ambassadors in the community promoting overdose prevention efforts. Active Collaborative Members are invited to join both public events and member-only meetings. They receive the ODFM e-newsletter, may utilizes the OD Free Marin website and on-line resources, engage with OD Free Marin via social media, and can join Collaborative sub-committees or work groups of interest. Active Collaborative Members sign the Codes of Conduct & Conflicts of Interest Statement annually.
Member Roles
Action Team Member
Regularly attends Action Team meetings (typically held every-other month, during business hours). Involved in planning, implementing, and evaluating Action Team initiatives. Serves as a liaison between OD Free Marin and their respective organization/sphere of influence/relevant sector to promote OD prevention knowledge, resources, preparedness, and best practices. Annual commitment. Unlimited opportunities to participate on an Action Team. This role is for folks who like getting the work done, building community, collaborating on projects and like learning, as well.
Advisory Committee Member
Self-nominated and invited by HHS to serve on the Advisory Committee as one of two representatives for each specific partner sector (the list of relevant sectors is in the Membership Sign-up Form), providing professional expertise and/or lived experience with relevant insights, perspective, and knowledge to support and inform the work of the Collaborative. Regularly attend Advisory Committee Meetings (held quarterly, every-other month, or as needed – during business hours). May also serve on an Action Team. Annual commitment. Limited number invited to serve on the Advisory Committee. This role is for people who prefer to approach this work from a strategic perspective and can offer knowledge in their area of expertise or from the vantage point of the sector they represent. An option to self-nominate can be found in the Membership Sign-up Form.
Leadership Team Member
Serve as a Co-Lead of an Action Team and automatically become a member of the Collaborative’s Leadership Team (which meets quarterly). Work closely with an HHS staff counterpart to develop agendas, prepare materials, and help facilitate the Action Team meetings. Help cultivate engagement of members, support, and track progress of the Action Team’s work. Attend Advisory Committee meetings to share updates and seek input/guidance/counsel. Two-year term which can be extended through Action Team majority vote.
Work Group Member
Participate on short-term, initiative-driven, sub-committees of the Advisory Committee or an Action Team. Join other Collaborative members to engage in specific single-purpose efforts – such as problem-solving, priority setting, or hosting one-off activities . Groups convene, plan, implement and share outcomes with respective Advisory Committee/Action Teams. Unlimited opportunities for involvement by all Active Collaborative Members.
